Crossing lines
over romanticized landmines,
my heated pace pulses the ground.

Turning sand hills to seaside,
this wreckage, detonating
seconds in the surge
of eroded defenses.

Lush discourse, igniting
sparks from the shrunken.
Legends of our dawn emulsifying
apparitions of our loss.

Swelled, now dispelled
in duty.

This frontline
does not mobilize madness;
it commands wailing
from our shallow beds.

A fight that is ill timed.
A dropped chin, not mine to guide.

Noise in the canals,
scorching me

silent.
